Due to the fragmented geology of Cybertron, each major landmass is divided by the great chasms of the Sonic Canyons, the largest of which have filled in to become the three seas. A distinction is made between different city-states, either a Torus-City or an Emirate. The hierarchy of civil authority is first the Grand Architect and his High Council, then each ordinance zone, then each city-state within their zone, and then each city or town. Currently, I understand that they have settled into happy new lives somewhere in the remote Australian outback and have no desire to return to Cybertron. As the new post-war regime took shape, the pair worried that the attitude of the new High Council would do Cybertron no good, and decided to lie low on Earth until the regime changed hands. Dejected, the pair limped back to Cybertron to try again, but upon arrival they discovered that the war had ended, Optimus Prime having sacrificed his life to rejuvenate the planet. Indeed, Torque and Falcatron employed their gladiator skills one last time to defeat Thundertron in single combat and kill the old pirate, but at a high cost the pirates had killed every other member of their crew. The battered captain thought their ship an easy prize, but this would be his last mistake. It is a pity, then, that after only a few centuries of aimless wandering, Thundertron and his crew, recently hobbled by their epic defeat at the hands of Megatron, discovered the Steelhaven out in deep space. By the time that Megatron poisoned the core of Cybertron with Dark Energon, the pair had gathered a crew of disaffected Autobots, pacifist neutrals, and even some ex-Decepticons, and set out aboard the Steelhaven to begin anew, somewhere amongst the stars. As the war dragged on, and the planet began to die, they soon lost faith with Optimus and his innermost cadre of Autobots, viewing them as too entrenched in the trappings of war to ever voluntarily lay down arms. Though they joined their fellow Autobots as they held the line against the bulk of the Decepticon army, Optimus’s deliberate suicide play rankled the two of them. When the war broke out in earnest, they were among the few gladiators to join the Autobots, and served loyally until the battle of Tyger Pax. ![]() The small and scrappy Falcatron ran circles around his larger competitors, befuddling them long enough for Torque to finish them off with a few blows of her powerful fists. there’s plenty of mechnanimals and cyberflora specifically adapted to live and thrive here, but it’s certainly one of the harsher environments on Cybertronīack before the war, Falcatron and Torque were a double-act in the Kaonian gladiator pits. that’s not to say that the whole of the Rust Sea is totally devoid of life. there certainly are expeditions out into its depths for a variety of reasons, and particularly daring or thrill-seeking folks will try hiking across, but it’s not recommended. ![]() there are a few cities like Damaxus or G’th Semane that have been built on huge highways that cross far above the surface of the sea, but they all have a lot of environmental protections in place to make sure their infrastructure and citizens survive. ruins and rumors have been found, however, like the First City, which provides evidence that perhaps mecha did once live in the sea. ![]() much of it’s “shoreline” is actually taken up by weather department generators and monitoring stations, as mecha long ago learned how to manipulate and often outright control the weather patterns of the planet the brittle, acid-coated, rustbitten ground of the sea is incredibly dangerous to traverse without a lot of preparation and careful practice, and flash floods are a constant danger, so the Rust Sea remains unpopulated. depending on where on the “shoreline” you are, the surface of the sea could be anywhere from a few thousand meters to a couple dozen miles lower than the lip of the neighboring landmass. The sheer size of the Rust Sea and how far north and south it spans means it’s incredibly varied, but probably the most significant spot is Tesk Crater, a deep scar in the surface of Cybertron just south of Tyger Pax, the only place with a body of water permanent enough to have lasted the entirety of recorded history.
